hi,
i appreciate the way the notes prepared by Jothi Sahnkar.
But had a doubt regarding the following point:

12) Having a directory called WEB-INF is a strong recommendation, but not an absolute obligation. Look out for questions that ask you to say whether a web application must have particular directories. The correct answer is no!

is it true that its not necessary to have a WEB-INF directory?

pls confirm!

I think it's wrong. Web application should have web.xml which should reside in WEB-INF. so i belive WEB-INF must present.

I tried it once doing so with out WEB-INF, only with JSP and no servlets in my application, in that case we dont need any web.xml or WEB-INF. i donno whether this is called as a web application ? or just a collection of JSPs.

To be in saffer side, i suggest you to look into spec.
