Everyone is different as far as study habits and what can be comprehended is concerned. However, if this is a result of studying for the exam, it is possible you moved on to the next chapter without really understanding the material in the previous chapter. One might get a reasonable score by just knowing the answers. However, to really succeed in this area one should be able to, for a given question, reason why each supplied statement in the list of answers to choose from is either true or false. In doing this, as opposed to knowing facts related to the correct answer, you will also know facts related to the incorrect answers, which I believe is additive (or multiplicative) to the learning process.

Once you have completed a chapter and have moved on, periodically revisit the exam from the past chapter to help reinforce what you have learned (it only takes a few minutes). Lastly, you are obviously a person of reasonable intelligence, which suggests the problem is related to the approach you are taking as opposed to your ability to learn.

Good Luck
