hi ,
I have just cleared the SCJP with moderate score 77%. I followed K&B. Now , for the preperation of SCWCD 5, I have seen the book HeadFirst , but it is not preciously like K&B for SCJP5.0. The exam objectives are not mention clearly . So, is there any book for the exam only , because I am having some reference books also.Or, HeadFirst is enough.

Thanks

But if you only bought HFSJ yesterday and haven't read it yet, how can you possibly know it's the best?! Even if you have read it, you'd need to read all the other literature available to give such an authoritative personal opinion.

I can't waste 550 Indian bucks without whipping through the net and I found it the best in 90% cases and recommendations. There might be many way to reach near to the perfection and you would have to choose a more reliable way to reach to your destination
That's why I choose it.And I have read 120 pages .It is quite interesting.

Thanks to all for reply.

Last saturday, I bought the book. But,I read upto chap 4, Its explanation is too lengthy for a simple thing . As I am going for ceritfication, I already gone though all the basic of j2EE (spl. servlet/jsp)and having confidence on all. I was expecting something precisely to SCWCD.

It is for SCWCD, as SCWCD starts from the base, like what request and response are. Even if you're already familiar with some of the concepts, don't stop reading. You may find things you're not that familiar with.

Solid advice - as I always say, try to absorb as many resources as possible. Even if the text seems obvious, you've got all the questions to try...

However, this does bring me back to my earlier point that one book is not necessarily the best for everyone. HFSJ is aimed at people with no experience at all, and for that reason some exam candidates who have been working with the technology or who have read beginner's books already don't find it suitable for them. It's all a matter of personal situation of course.

P.S. Nudge-nudge - we just released a new SCWCD 5 version of my book worldwide, with a low-price Asian edition too, and it matches almost exactly to the exam objectives in a no-nonsense manner. Check the SCWCD 5 links, Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk for reviews. Also TOC and sample chapter on the publisher's website (see signature). Would be grateful for any feedback if you do decide to pick up a copy!
