Passed scwcd 5 with 94%

took the exam this morning. exam time is very generous, finished the exam in 1hr, then reviewed 8 marked answers for 15mins.

exam was pretty easy if you are well prepared. questions are direct to the point, did not find them tricky at all.
in some questions you could spot the answer by just looking at the given options, like there is only 1 correct option and the others are
obviously wrong (syntacly/logically), but of course you still have to read the question just to be sure.

HFSJ - read it 3 times, love this book, wish they had one for every java cert.
specs - just scanned through it, only parts specified in hfsj.
Mikalai notes and Frederic notes - quick reference and last minute reviews, very good notes thanks guys.
Peabodys design patterns - a must read, got 100% thanks marc.

used enthuware mock, very similar to the real exam. I find it a little bit harder than the real exam. very satisfied with enthuware and great customer support.

hfsj + enthuware is enough to pass the exam, if you want to score high read the specs and notes provided here in the ranch.

enthuware scores: 72%, 75%, 86%, 84%, 84%, 87%, 81%, 74%
hfsj scores: 68% 1st ed, 58% 2nd ed.

visit javaranch 24/7, got lots of tips and info by reading discussions of fellow ranchers,

thanks to all ranchers

hi Gorkal,

you have to buy the full version of enthuware

there are also free enthuware questions in JDiscuss, but no. of items are only limited.

full version of enthuware is worth it.

hi Amandeep,

all the scores listed above are from the first take of enthuware mocks.

When I repeated enthuware mocks 1-7, I was scoring 90%++ in all of them, but the scores are of no value, because I knew already most of the questions and answers. The 2nd take was more of like a review.

Failed in both HFSJ exams, didnt took them again just reviewed my wrong answers.

Hi,
Is it necessary to take Enthuware SCWCD TESTS,before going to final exam.
[I think 29$ is expensive for me].Any other alternative? Please advise.
Thanks in advance.

hi SAM,

for me, yes i would recommend enthuware. questions are very close to the real exam (a little bit harder). so when the time comes for the real thing, it would be just like taking another enthuware mock exam, you will be very confident.

enthuware will give you an idea on what questions to expect in the real exam.

you could try JDiscuss, same set of enthuware questions but only limited items. If you want more items then you can purchase the full version.

Thanks
