No - none of the questions in the exam will ever mislead you using incorrect HTML. The exam is there to test your server-side programming knowledge, not W3C compliance! In fact, I think they deliberately use out-of-date constructs in order that it be highly recognisable to anyone with any Web design experience. For example, I have seen the <b> tag in SCWCD 1.4 questions, but this kind of presentational markup is highly discouraged now (and has long since been removed from the decent XHTML specs).

Just to second what Charles has replied, you will not need anything above a very basic knowledge of html.

BUT

You will need some knowledge of how a user interacting with html in a browser will generate different types of http requests. For example the affect of the action attribute on a form html tag, what type of request is generated when you click on an anchor link etc.

Nearly any of the SCWCD study guides (*cough* Charles' is excellent *cough*) will cover this level of HTML knowledge. So don't worry!

HTH - Rufus.
