I need your opinion,i want to order book of HSFJ by kathy sierra and berts, through amazon.com But it shows 2 books 1) Head First Servlets and JSP: Passing the Sun Certified Web Component Developer Exam (Brain-Friendly Guides) by Bryan Basham, Kathy Sierra, and Bert Bates
2) Head First Java, 2nd Edition by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates (Paperback - Feb 9, 2005) - Illustrated
your best bet would be the second edition of Head First Servlet and Jsp. I heard someone say this is the best book in the planet for SCWCD 5.
Most of people here recommend you the second edition because it has new topics which has been missed in the first edition. The biggest advantage of the second edition is it has new set of mock exams which the first edition lacks.
the first edition is for SCWCD 1.4 and the second edition is for new SCWCD 5.I think I could help you decide what should you buy.

Most of the programming problems can't be solved because you don't know what the exact problem is.
Defining your problem correctly leads you to the right solution.
As pointed out above, you have listed one book for SCWCD, the other as a beginner Java book... you may have meant to have listed the second edition of Head First Servlets and JSPs but you didn't! ISBNs always help as they are totally unambiguous.
I heard someone say this is the best book in the planet for SCWCD 5.
That may be, but it's always a personal preference of course. On various subjects, I've read books I loved and others I disliked in style -- I bet everyone's in the same position there. Personally, I took and passed the SCWCD and SCJP 5 upgrade exams first time without having read any books at all -- so there's proof that you don't actually need anything except knowledge, though books massively help understanding, and that's the game really.
