Hi,I am sorry if my question is irrevalant in this particular discussion borad. I am working as a Software Engineer developer in a very reputed IT company. I have 1.7 years of experience in Java/J2ee projects. I am looking for a job switch. I am planning to write SCWCD certification. So I was just wondering that will the certification help me improve my chances of getting a good job ?

Actually certifications are a measure to check your knowledge and understanding on the subject. In some cases it might certainly help you in your job search.

Hi Deepak,

if you prepare some certifications obviously you will gain some good knowledge about the subject..that certification will also act as tool in your skillset.

but my suggestion is before migrate to some other company, gain some knowledge, improve your skill set, which would be lead your bright future

All the best for your future endevours.

Hi padhu Ram welcome to Javaranch ,
Deepak, since you are working in a reputed IT company then you already know what it means to be certified.
I dont think getting a certificate drastically improves one's knowledge but still, clients want that people working on their project should be certified.
The companies want their employees to hold a certificate.
Certification definitely improves your chances of selection over non certified candidates. Moreover it has a global recognition.
