Future of SCJP

Hey

I just wanted to know....

Since the SCJA "beta" is free, many might take the exam and pass. But then, will that not affect the quality of "Getting Certified"???

I mean to say that.... every one will take the exam and some may get passed out of luck....

And my second question is.... what will happen to SCJP in the future? I mean to ask, will SCJA be considered as the Foundation certification? If so what will happen to those who are SCJP certified?

Getting certified - but without any context, it doesnt sound good. SCJP is intended to be the foundation course for Java Programmers. So getting an SCJP is different from getting SCJA. The target audience for SCJA - IT Managers and entry level programmers.

So dont worry, SCJA and SCJP are very different from each other.

On the contrary, the beta exams are much harder than the actual exams to pass. There would be less resources and time to prepare and literally no study guides, mock exams or no experiences that you could gather from other certified people. They contain more number of questions and the time alloted is also more.Since they are beta exams there may be ambiguity also in the questions. So it makes more fun to take part in the beta exams.

In one of the previous SCBCD beta exams, I guess there were about 175 Qs and 4 hrs time alloted. The actual exam ended up with just 70 Qs.

I am not sure if exam can be passed out of luck. Lucky are candidates who have been reading up generally on Java and are aware of all the different java technologies because their general knowledge of Java whould help them answer many questions.
