The Sun Certified Associate for the Java Platform, Standard Edition, Exam Version 1.0 "SCJA" beta results will be posted by SEPTEMBER 2ND, 2005 in the I7 database, at <http://i7lp.integral7.com/sun>. If you are not familiar with how to log onto the I7 database to check your test result, please use the following instructions:

* If you have taken a previous SUN exam, and have your SUN score report, please access the I7 database at <http://i7lp.integral7.com/sun>, and click on the "First Time Users" link. You will need to fill in 5 fields of information; please be sure to enter all of the information exactly as it appears on your score report. The 5 fields you'll need to complete are:

First Name
Last Name
Registration ID: (This is called "registration number" on your score report)
Test Date: (mm/dd/yyyy)
Test Center ID: (This is called "Site Number" on your score report)

When you finish entering all of the information, click on the "submit" button at the bottom of the screen.

* If the SCJA Beta exam was your first SUN exam, or, if you do not have a copy of a score report from a previous exam, the information needed to log into the I7 database is also contained on the confirmation email that you received, if you registered online. If you did not register online (for example, if you registered via phone, or directly at the testing center), please send a note to SunCert@prometric.com, requesting that they send you an email appointment confirmation for the SCJA Beta exam. This will send the email appointment confirmation letter to your email address. This note will come from "SRAPTC@prometric.com".

After you receive the email appointment confirmation letter, please
follow these instructions to log into the I7 database:

Access the I7 database at <http://i7lp.integral7.com/sun>, and click on the "First Time Users" link. You will need to fill in 5 fields of information; please be sure to enter all of the information exactly as it appears on your score report. The 5 fields you'll need to complete are:

First Name
Last Name
Registration ID: (This is called "Order Confirmation Number/Document Number" on your email appointment confirmation letter)
Test Date: (mm/dd/yyyy)
Test Center ID: (This is called "Test Site Code" on your email appointment confirmation letter)

When you finish entering all of the information, click on the "submit" button at the bottom of the screen.

If you follow the steps above, and are still unable to log into the I7 database, or, if you have any additional questions, please send an email to SunCert@prometric.com

Thank you.

Nah... It's not worth getting yourself all wrapped up in nerves. The worst that could happen is that you didn't pass and have to retake it, right?

Turst me - from having failed enough tests in my time, it's not worth worrying about.

I disagree. Its been 4 yrs since I've been active in IT specifically coding java. I know I can code but I don't have proof. This is the beginning of my proof. Sure you could say "do an open source project" but as someone who has interviewed people and screened for general pop positions saying and providing proof of participation in open source leaves a lot to be desired. Then factoring in the pervasive skill prerequisites for most projects....I think my worrying is justified.

Honestly, I feel the test is challenging but not really that difficult. If you have worked with Java for some years, and if you do the test carefully, you can expected that you can pass for sure.

Thank you very much for very useful information.
Today (08/25/2005) I try to create web login but failed, the web show message "We could not find a user meeting the specified criteria. Please review the criteria and try again." Is it OK or not?

Matt, I think you're missing my meaning, which is probably my fault for not being clearer.

What I was more trying to say is that the test is over and done with - there's no point (as I have been reminding my wife, who also took the SCJA beta) in worrying about it at this point. What's done is done and it's all a waiting game until the scores are back. AND, you can always take the test again.

Yeah, okay, you'll have to pay to retake it. But you'll have the report in-hand to know what you need to study and improve on to do better on the second go. (And there's no shame to taking a test multiple times. As I said earlier, I've failed tests and managed to hit them the second time...)

From SCJP Tiger Beta experience, Prometric's record might differ from I7 record and I7 record is the offical result.

Thus, better wait for 2 Sep.

me too. I've found me passed in the exam in the Prometric record, but not sure whether I have really passed it and what is the score. Anyway, better to see the details in the Sun's cert manager.

Right, and it was wrong in both directions, someone had 'failed' in prometric, but passed, and someone else had 'passed' and failed...

PS. I have 'passed' too in Prometric, but let's wait one more week till next Friday.

It's not, don't worry. It simply is a confirmation that you showed up for the test. (As opposed to 'no show'.) They're fairly good about being clear when they have the results.

Hi Kengkaj

Today (08/25/2005) I try to create web login but failed, the web show message "We could not find a user meeting the specified criteria. Please review the criteria and try again." Is it OK or not?

You might have to wait until September 2nd for your account to become active - but I really don't know for certain.

Did you follow Evelyn's instructions for "If the SCJA Beta exam was your first SUN exam, or, if you do not have a copy of a score report from a previous exam"?

After September 2nd, if following Evelyn's instructions still don't work, I suggest you follow up with an email to SunCert@prometric.com as per Evelyn's instructions above.

Regards, Andrew

The Only way to prove u have passed the exam is the Exam Score letter send
by prometric.

Once I had a exam 'failed' in both prometric and I7 database, but I got
the exam score letter which stated that I had passed the exam. So I spend
about one mouth to tell these two to correct my exam status, and wait another two mouth to get my Certificated Kit.

PS. I have 'passed' too in prometric , wish I can with all u guys

Thx Evelyn, for giving us an update.

I wish prometric result is true in my case. Does any one know about the pass percentage???

My curiosity has been increasing as I come closer to the result date.

I've taken a look at my prometric record and it is was stated there that I passed. I hope that will carry over to my I7 record as well. Anyway, there is only 1 week left and we'll eventually know our results. Goodluck to all of us.

My status has changed from tested to passed in prometric, if we knew the pass percentage we would have a better idea.

I think the test wasn't so hard, but if the pass percentage is very high due to very knowledgable people taking the test, then I might fail in a week on the 17i database.

Hi,
Could someone please tell me how to view ur test results in prometric.com.

Also for I-7 database i got a reply from 'SunCert@thomson.com' giving my userId and password to login. How to get the information for 'first time user section'.
Once i Login i see lot of Sun-certified exam's ; i cudnt find SCJA Beta exam in the list though SCJA 1.0 is listed there.
Could someone help me how to look my score card .

Thanks in advance,

You will not find SCJA Beta as when we passed, we are regarded as SCJA and it will not show any info for the beta exam.

Thus, if you passed, you can expect that the status will be reflected in SCJA 1.0 section.

I've checked my prometric and my status was changed to 'Passed'. I just hope that it's true and reflect in the I7 database.

I still have no reply from Sun regarding my details.

Good luck to all of us

Pedro,

I have no idea, myself, if it is. (I checked and mine also says 'passed'.) The only other check I could think of would be to get my wife to check her results, but I don't want to risk it being wrong and her either getting depressed or getting her hopes up falsely before Friday.

I'm just going to wait till it's in i7.

Hi Pedro

The prometric result is trustworthy?
Yes? No? Why?

This is all just conjecture based on my impressions of what I have seen in the various forums over a few years.

It appears that up until a few years ago Prometric did not have a category for "tested" - I don't know when it appeared. So until then candidates doing exams that don't provide immediate results (SCJD / SCEA / beta exams) were assigned either a "passed" or "failed" status. It also appears that whether the policy for whether to default to "passed" or "failed" has also changed over the years. Now they do have a "tested" status, but don't appear to use it consistently.

All I can say is that you should wait until the results are released on September 2nd.

Regards, Andrew

Andrew, thanks for the perspective. This is my first exam, so it's nice to hear from someone with experience.

I checked my exam status on Prometric the other day, and I also "passed".
But I'm not exactly popping any champagne yet. Or beer ...

Since this is a beta, Prometric wouldn't know the passing score until the Sun cert folks review and grade the exams. And once that's done, I can't see a week (or more) going by between the time the Prometric status is posted and the I7 database is updated. You'd think that they would both be updated around the same time. (Although I've been around computers long enough to know better.)

I'm assuming the "passed" status in Prometric is just a default value.

I don't think the "passed" status is the default value. A fried of mine who also took the test has a "failed" status in his prometric.

Although, nothing is sure yet until now. We'll just wait for the results on friday.

Christian, thanks for the info.

Just for grins I emailed SunCert@prometric.com asking for clarification (hey, what can it hurt?) but that was only a couple of hours ago, and I won't be sitting by the computer waiting for a response ...

Time to take a nap

I just checked in CertManager and looked at my history,

Before today, taking the SCJA exam was listed as part of the history with the relevant date, now it is no longer listed as part of any event on the history menu in CertManager.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON???

HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANYONE ELSE. Is the Exam part of your history data???

Why border about it when the result is not yet release?

Might be SUN's CertManager IT team is performing testing, might be the team is preparing for releasing the result, etc... Lots of reasons.

Unless the exam result is formally announced, these events might mean nothing.

I agree. Anyone in IT should be used to the process by now. Although I appreciated the advance notice, I almost wish I would have just received an email on September 2nd, so I wouldn't have to speculate.

But I'm cool ... I'll just have to wait another 45 hours, 18 minutes, and 29 seconds.
