Wow! I'm glad so many people are excited about this week's promotion, but let's try to avoid posting the same question (such as variations on "what is this exam for?") repeatedly.

Let me be the first to ask (sorry Marc) what is this exam for specifically but also what type of background do you need to write such an exam? How diversified is the content of the exam? I'm not really big on just learning just enough to pass an exam so what other textbooks, sources of learning, etc.., would you recommend on thoroughly learning Java and areas covered by the exam? I've touched slightly on programming in Java and would be very interested in becoming more knowledgable in the language. I'd appreciate any feedback and/or advice you might have. Thanks.

Well, this is a question I have always been kind of curious about anyway, and this might be a good time to ask it:

What is Sun's position (if any) regarding the use of clone( ) vs. using a copy constructor? Can one expect a question on the SCJA exam about what clone is used for, or what the proper usage of it is (class implements Cloneable, throws CloneNotSupportedException, super.clone() etc.)? Is there any reason to expect that a person taking a Sun exam at any level needs to understand what a copy constructor even is, give the fact that some of the classes in the API have them?

Thanks.

Just to clarify...

My post was just meant as a suggestion to keep questions focused on relevant topics that haven't already been asked. It's not meant as "the topic to post under" for the promotion. Feel free to create new topics for that!
