Hi there. I'm new to SCJA and I am wondering how deep the high level knowledge about Applets must be for the exam.
Do I have to know how to program Applets ? Or is it just to know the fact where Applets live and what they are for ?

Thanks in advance,
Carlos V.

You only need to know the concept of what an Applet is -- not how to implement.

Sun calls objects of type Apple "fat".

Sun asks a few questions about the difference between heavyweight and lightweight components, and that sorta dances around the issues related to creating Swing applets and AWT applets.

I put together a little tutorial that demonstrates the differences between Swing and AWT components, and why they are called lightweight and heavyweight components. There's alot of applets on the page, so it might crash your computer. Of course, if you don't have the Java plugin (shame on you!), then you might not see any at all:

Good luck on your studies!
