Thanks, Pat Avery
But both books cover the same objective, so don't be sorry. Even you bought the first edition of the book, I think you should buy the SCJA exam questions by Cameron too. Lastly, don't forget to buy Java book such as "Head First Java", "Java, the Complete Reference", "Deitel Java How To Program", etc.
hope that helps.

SCJP 5.0 --> Using only Java book and Sun's E-practice Exam.
SCJA --> Using Cameron's book
SCJD --> Using Andrew's book (Working on UrlyBird 1.3.2) --> preparing to upload
Well, first off, you need to know that you're going to pass this time around.
The first edition had 300 pages, the second has over 400. Plus, the second edition has corrected a huge whack of typos, but don't worry, we've added a few new ones into the mix as well, just so you dont' feel ripped off.
The first edition had a great level of success getting my students certified, but it was a bit lapidary. The second edition is much more refined, I dropped the "ExamScam" name because so many people complained that it was a disservice to the book, and I switched publisher, so it has a much wider distribution.
Thanks for the order. If you have any questions, feel free to message me through JavaRanch.
