You will get the detailed information about the Developer exam from the Sun site. The Developer certification is a two step process:
1. Once you register for the Developer certification (after paying the fess - $250, in US), you will be given a link to download the assignment. The guidelines to develop this assignment will be provided to you. There is no time limit to complete this assignment. After comleting the assignment you will have to upload your application on the Sun site
2. Then you will have to appear for a written test (for registration, you will have to pay $150, in US).
The score in both the exams define the result.
To go in for this certification, you should have some experience of programming in Java.
To prepare for the second step( the written test), there are some good books like -
- Complete Java 2 Certification By Robert and Heller
- (I don't remember the title of the book), its by Jawarosky.
