Book method on server?

Hi,
I have read in several posts that some of you have done the booking method on the server.
I know that this is cool as you have more control over the sequence lock-read-modify-unlock. That way you have less trouble with clients dying in the middle of this sequence leaving locks on the server.
But: The Data class that I received is a simple general purpose DB-Engine. As soon as I put a booking method into the data class it is no longer general purpose.
Any thoughts on this?

Hi,
The better idea would be to built another class which do this booking and uses Data class fo this purpose. You may have to make this as RMI object so that clients can approach for services.
