Hi all,
i am sun certified java programmer and i am planning to take scjd exam.
can any body let me know , what are the topics(like swing , java networking,rmi,jdbc etc etc) with wich i should be well versed in order to execute the assignment successfully.

You should learn how to use Swing components the right way. Learn how sockets can be used to implement a primitive client server communication protocol. Learn RMI (the tutorial at java site is the best). Even if you'll be using only one of the two approaches (RMI or Socket), it is a good idea to know the other approach as well.
Other than these, you should know how common design patterns like MVC, adapter etc work.
You do not need JDBC, Servlet/JSP etc.
