Hi Jane,
First of all, Congratulations on becoming an SCJP!!

You had asked for resources, recommended books and some general
advice.
1)RESOURCES
***********
As you know SCJD is about completing an assignment which is
partly finished. You have two ways of doing this project.
a)You can use serialized objects over TCP/IP (or)
b)You can use RMI.
The best tutorials for these topics and other topics which are
required for the exam like SWING,MULTITHREADING are
available on the SUN's site.
2)RECOMMENDED BOOKS
*******************
Currently there are two books in the market which deal with
SCJD.
They are ,
a)SCJP/SCJD book by RHE and
b)"All in one JAVA2 Exam guide" by Barry Boone and William
Stanek.
These books will give you an insight on the assignment and also
on the follow up exam.
3)GENERAL ADVICE
****************
Hang around this forum everyday and you will get a lot of
valuable information.
Hope this helps,
regards,
Manjunath
