I have been trying to read RHE to build a foundation for the Developers exam. On Chapter 17 there is code for 'ShareThread' class. On Page 572 (2nd edition) it has some code that does not compile. Has anyone gone through this to correct it?? Maybe Michael Ernest can answer this??
thanks,
Zulfiqar

Hi Zulfiqar -
With the ShareThread example, I believe there's an error in the code that should be published on Sybex's errata page. Unfortunately I don't have the book with me today so I can't be more precise at the moment.
Feel free to email me (as well as post to this topic) and I'll look at it this evening.

Mike, thanks for your response.
Actually I already checked the errata on Sybex's site. This particular error is not there. The errata on the website deals with code on Page - 569.
My question/problem is with the code on Page-572:
Here is the snippet:

Now the compiler first gives an error at t.start() as there is no variable 't' defined. I assume it should be thr.start();. Then the compiler gives an error at thr.start() in the while loop as 'thr' was previously defined locally to the for loop.
Since I haven't had a chance to completely understand the code, I am not sure what is hapenning and how to fix the code myself.
thank you,
Zulfiqar

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
