Hi Friends:
I had some trouble to find Java help. For example: how to transfer string "123" to integer. I think java.math or java.lang may have it, but I am not sure. I end up writing my own ToInt() method.
I have many examples like this. In the instruction, I think they require you to use the methods in java library, if there is one.
I realize the need for some java resources. Buying books is one option, but they never seems enough. I believe there should be some on-line complete resources.
Could anyone recommend some? for this project, and for future references.
Thanks a lot!
Don

Don,
You would use the following expression:
int myNumber = Integer.parseInt("123");
You may want to reconsider taking the developer exam without knowing basics such as this. I think you may run in to a lot of problems with designing code that utilizes the standard Java API's which is a requirement of the exam:
Designs should not involve building new code if the effect can adequately be achieved using facilities in the standard Java packages.

Thanks Terry.
My code is working now. But I won't submit it until after 1 month or so, just want to check out things like this. I downloaded the assignment in the middle of August. I written both socket/stream model and RMI model. They are all working. RMI is easier. But I believe bolts-and-nuts stuff is more flexible and powerful.
From my experience with VC++ and VB, VB is more productive, but VC++ is more flexible. And also from my experience with triathlon, it is not how strong your arms or legs are, it is how efficent your lung and heart is.
Thanks a lots and talk to you later. (-:
