I am starting with the Java 2 Developer exam and have just downloaded the assignment.
I am wondering whether the following is a good way to start:
I plan to first create the application in a desktop mode, that is, no networking built into it.
I will design the GUI and the data access objects in such a way that I can flexibly change from desktop mode to network mode later on.
Is this a good approach to start off with?
Secondly, I am still not clear about what kind of network programming needs to be built for this using RMI or Sockets (those are not my strengths).
Is it because the database (db.db) can be placed on a network drive and we need distributed objects to receive the search criteria and return the results and to do database I/O across the network?
Is that for what RMI or sockets need to be used?
Thanks in advance for any help,
