Hi All,
I have downloaded the FBN assgnment recently. I am going through the instruction document.
I am little bit confussed abt from where to start.
I am making requrement document and trying to figure out what I have to do and how..
Planning to start from UI design, but have some doubts about the GUI design.
1) Is there any standared disign pattern I need to follow or I can design anyway?
I am thinking to to have one frame with comboBoxes to select Origin and destination or Carrier of flight and when user clickes serach/Go JButton then open another frame with JTable with data satisfying the criteria.
2)In instruction document given that ,
a)User should be able to select the origin and destination of flights and diplay should be update to show flights satisfying the criteria.
So in this case can I use different frames ??
b)User must be able to describe enter the string value "any" for the origin, destination or to both, so as to implement the wildcard charecter.
Does this mean that in the Combobox along with city list I need to have "any" string ? or ...
I guess I am asking you people very basic question. But I need these to clarified before I go further ..
your feedback will be greately appreciated .

1) Have a look at the MVC pattern and maybe the Java Observable class and Observer interface (could be used for updating data display etc).
2a) Yes when they perform the search you need to show the matches, this could be in a new Frame or in the original that's up to you.
2b) Yes you would need to add "any" to the combobox to allow for the wildcard feature.

Thanks ..
Few more doubts..
1)The user interface should connect to the database using either local or a network based connection accoring to the user choice.
can somebody please explain what does this mean?
What I am thinking is ,
at the dos prompt user enter 1-local connection , 2-networked connection as a argument for the applcation and depending on that connection to database need to be made.
What exatly meant by local connection and networked connetion?
2)database has to be both at client side and at server right?
correct me if I am wroung.
