This problem has confused me for a long time. This is beacase when I use IDE to develop software, the tool always add some wordy codes in form of style which produced auto, but if I code all by myself,I will have to pay more attentions to GUI design and have to code more codes.
What can i do?

Go For it. You will learn so much more by doing it through a text editor, like Textpad. They will give you color code, and can also compile your code for you too.
Like you said IDEs put their style code in there, and it is recognizable. I think the assessors know that.
Think of this app as not only a cert, but also one of the best learning experiences you can get.

I'm used to have a basic IDE www.jcreator.com which simply provides code help.
I've lately installed JBuilder & found it quiet wonderfull.
It crashes the machine every now & then & the debugger sounds quiet good (not like VisualAge for instance).
I was forced to developped with VisualCafe for 1 year & managed to always escape from it as it was a bug by itself.
Beware of cross/circular dependencies that are automatically hidden by JBuilder. Keep ANT at hands for all safety...
