"The maximum possible # of points is 155; the minimum to pass is 124. General Considerations(maximum = 58): 58 Documentation(maximum = 20): 20 GUI(maximum = 24): 22 Server(maximum = 53): 49"
I just checked for the heck of it to see if my score was there on New Year's Day and to my surprise it was! Pretty good turnaround time for the holiday season. I took my written exam 12/20/01.
I know some of why I got docked points on the server. I don't think I synchronized enough of my unlock method. This caused a problem with my database lock.
I used RMI, modified Data, used ObjID objects to identify the client on the server, used the standard TableModel. However, I did subclass JTable to make it uneditable. I did not get rid of stale locks. One extra thing I did was to use a ResourceBundle properties file to get strings used in the GUI (theoretically for internationalization later).
I was pretty good about using the MVC pattern for the entire client. My model class extends Observable and my main view extends Observer. The model update()'s the view. My view does not talk to the model directly, but passes messages through a controlling class (called FBN). This is the same class I used to launch the client.
Testing. I tested in Win98 and WinNT. I found a java exception on NT with some keyboard input and the JTable. It was the result of something I coded (so ENTER doesn't advance the row in the JTable). I didn't fix the exception on NT.
I also tried to test on AIX. I came across a weird infinite loop GUI problem. It basically made the program unusable. I didn't feel like dealing with it on a platform I was almost sure they wouldn't use. I just hoped it was an AIX platform problem. I didn't have access to a Sun box with JDK 1.2.
