Hi,
I'm planning to take up the developers's exam and would like to know how to go about it.Im SCJP.
Is there any preparations to be made?If yes, which portions of java? Any good books available for the developer's exam specifically?
How much time will it take from a busy schedule?
thanks

You should to give the both certification exams. Both are best on its own place.
But if you have some prior programming experience then it would be more fruitful.
Get the know how of differences and tutorial n' more info from www.java.sun.com Site.
Another link from javaranch is here: http://www.javaranch.com/scwcdlinks.jsp
Good luck for both of you.

RHE. RHE refers to Roberts, Heller, and Ernest here at Javaranch. Michael is a regular at Javaranch, you will find plenty of drivel from him The title of the book I believe is the Complete Certification for Java. It covers SCJP and SCJD. They demonstrate two projects for Developer one that is really similar to the actual assignment of FBN Airlines.

I had a really busy schedule myself. I could only get maybe an hour or two per week. It took me a total of about 4-5 months to complete everything and get my score back. I also took my time and tried not to rush it, because it is a great learning experience.
As far as which test to take. I took SCJD first, and now I am working towards SCJWD. I chose this route because I wanted to learn more about coding using Java, and I don't do any Web Development at all, even though I took an EJB class at UC Irvine, CA and it covered Servlets and JSP.
I think the SCJWD is an easier test, plus it doesn't have an assignment, just 59? questions.
