The assignment asks for an exact match of the Strings. Do you think I can use equalsIgnorCase to avoid a search failure if the user enters the correct String in a different case?

I think the GUI itself is the client and it will allow users to pick from select boxes and then format the criteria from there without the user even having to type anything...so just equals method seems fine to me, imho.
