Extending Remote for interface

I did the same thing which u suggested. My common interface for Data & Server extends Remote. Is it a good design for Data class to extend a interface which extends Remote.
Iam i giving clear explanation. iam worried abt Remote class in the interface.
Iam throwing Exception in all the interface methods. Throwsing generic exception is a good design or i should create a application specific exception

That is correct. I can't remark on the Data class implementing the interface, as I didn't change the Sun made Data class code. Well in that way. I only added methods to the Data class and fixed the deprecated methods. In my DataAccessRemote class that implemented the interface, and also has a reference to the Data class.
This way I can have a unique object for each client connected to the Server, and have it handle the locks for that client. And the data class is only instantiated once, and all clients have it's own reference to that object
