questions about the cert

I plan to take the developer cert test. How long is the duration? (some say it's one year, some say it's unlimited time). and how if I fail the assignment? Do I need to rebuy the voucher(some say yes, some say no), how about the written test?
I have briefly go through some of the posts here, found them very interesting. May I know that what knowledge do I have to master? RMI, Swing and what else? what database is supposed to use? I just feel it secure to know them first before taking the test.
Thanks a lot

There is no time limit.
If you fail, you will have to rebuy the voucher. This is the same with all of their tests.
RMI, Swing, Collections classes. They supply java code for the data classes (Data, DataInfo, and FieldInfo classes). You just have to fix 2 deprecated methods, and extend the Data class by either extending or modifying directly to add lock, unlock and criteriaFind methods.
You don't need to be a master to start the assignment. You actually learn as you go. That's the beauty of this assignment.
You’ll find me in my office. I’ll probably be drinking. And reading this tiny ad.
