Mr. Richardson,
As a candidate of the Sun Certified Developer for the J2SE certificate, I have to say my recent test experience with Sun is very frustrating and unpleasant. I found my bad expeience also happened to some other testers, not only a few.
I uploaded my code assignment and took my essay part (310-027) on 02/20/2002. According to Sun's policy, the result is supposed to come out in 4 weeks. After one month waiting and serveral emails/phone calls to both Sun educational services and Prometric, I was told yesterday my exam hadn't been graded at all because the communication issues between Sun and Prometric. Sun's system automatcially told Prometric I failed my exam and Prometric didn't send in my essay at all. The whole process was messed up and the only response I got from Sun Educational Services is now I have to wait again, not even an apology.
My story is exactly the same as some others. Some of them even waited for 6 or 8 weeks for nothing. Apparently, this mistake happens quite often and is not acceptable. The way Sun designed to collect the results is problematic and error-pruned. And the communication between Sun Certification department and customers needs to be improved. During the 4 weeks waiting, we have no idea what's happening and if we send emails to check, we'll only be told to keep waiting in the dark. Also, it takes 48 hours for a single email response, if there is one.
For this exam, me, and other candidates have paid for 400 dollars and spent hundreds of hours, the only reason why we take it is because we believe this is a valuable certificate to pursue in this industry. For the money and time, we deserve a better service from Sun. Both our time and efforts should get proper respect from Sun Educational Services.
Thanks for your time!

Hi
i read previous two mails felt a shame B'cas this was happening in a field like s/w which regarded as a "professional."
It's can be known to only those who get experienced and effected badly with the irresponsible behaviour by the concerned persons or organization.
I wish they will took it as serious and make the aspirants feel comfortable.

I sent an email to him too, after reading all you guys doing it. Here's the one I sent.
---------------------------------
I am writing this e-mail to be included in the number of recent complaints that you have received regarding the Sun Certified Java Developer exam.
I too had the problem of Prometric not uploading my essay exam answers to Sun for a week and a half. Luckily I managed to get a hold of Monica Green on the phone, and she put a rush on it, and I got my results with only one week extra time.
I post to a web site called Javaranch, which has a forum for the Developer Exam. There have been a number of posts regarding this same complaint with many testers. I always tell them that it is more of a problem on the Prometric side, than with Sun. However, it doesn't make them anymore happier.
I am really glad that Sun has gone out of their way and create a great certification program for all Java Certs, and the Developer Cert is one of the best, it really helps testers learn, and improve their coding skills.
Thank you for your time

Here is my email. I sent to Richardson. Hope it helps to expedite to solve the problem.

Dear Mr. Richardson:
I have been reading a number of complaints regarding the Sun Certified Java Developer exam. I believe, by this time you should have full understanding of this problem.
I found myself lucky because I got my result after 34 days exchanging a bunch of emails. I am writing this email not for me but to improve the existing system. Please take this as a professional JAVA DEVELOPER request to improve existing malfunctioning system.
It is a communication problem between SunEducation and Prometric. Why should student/developer suffer? They have spent their time and money; it is natural them to expect their result as SUN has promised them (within four weeks). Some get result within 10 days and others have to wait more than 50 days. There is no consistency at all, that is the real frustrating situation. Developer/student would have been glad if they had known exactly how long they had to wait.
I hope SunEducation will come up with a better system to assist students and developers feel
proud of it that they chose JAVA DEVELOPER certification.
Thank you very much for your time.
Sincerely,
Bal K. Sharma
