Just wondering if we should test on a solaris box? I personally do not have access to a solaris box, so this would be kind of hard for me. I know the requirements say to provide the system that we used to dev/test on... does that mean the grader will only test on that platform?
Also, should I be testing under a jre rather than the sdk that I am developing under? I am using the new 1.4 sdk and dont want to be failed because it is not production yet? I assume it is productions though.....
Thanks,

Hi Nate,
Don't worry about Solaris. But if you have access to Linux that would be a plus. I tested on Linux, Windows 98, Windows ME and Windows 2000 Pro which was my development platform.
Now for your second question. There was someone here a few months ago who initially failed the assignment becuase he used 1.4. At the time it had just cleared final beta. The examiner apparently used a 1.3 JRE and his client threw a RuntimeException involving the new Color constants in 1.4. After firing a flame to SunED though, they did re-evaluate his assignment using the correct JRE and he passed.
My advise though, would be to use 1.3 if you're not too far along since that is what they are expecting.
Hope this helps,
Michael Morris

The main reason that I was using 1.4 is for the build in exception chaining. But I could always write my own ChainedException class that does the same thing.
Thanks
