I was just wondering how exactly does it work - when you go to a forum, all new messages have yellow folder icons, and old ones are white. My question is a little more specific:
1) How does Infopop track it? I assume cookie that linked to "last visit" date on a client, because it seems to remember me visiting on one computer and not the other - am I worng?
2) Does Javaranch know that I visited this forum and not the others (and therefore, will list messages on this forum as "read", and on the others as "new" when I go in next time)?
Thanks
Shura

1) you are correct that it is done with cookies
2) one cookie per user so it doesn't track which forums you visit.
