1.BTW, how many screens do we require at the functional level.at the most i can imagine only 2.
1)Search and Book will be shown in a single screen
2)A possible(optional) "booked" screen which can be used to cancel the bookings. cant imagine anything else.
look and feel
=============
1)though looks greedy i am using the ResourceBundle to configure almost all the labels/Headings/texts shown on the screen.
2) Is it necessary to have a equivalent menu for all the operations.
any thougths???

For usability, you should be able to do everything with or without the mouse.
Whether this means lots of menu items is up to the designer... that means you.

point taken with grudging considering that the Swing menus are not user friendly. Yes, i will do it.

Hi there,
I think it's good technique to create a window per task. In my SCJD assignment, I used JFrames, JDialogs, or JOptionPanes for the following:
1. Main JFrame. Displays table and search tools.
2. Reservation JOptionPane. Displays information on the flight you want to reserve seats on as well as a component to select the number of seats you want to book.
3. Connection JOptionPane. Collects local/remote connection data from the user.
4. Browse Files JFileChooser. Lets client locate a database on the local file system.
That's my two cents worth.
Cheers,
Darryl

Well, don't forget that you can assign hot-keys to controls... maybe there's another way.
