Hi I have two questions pertaining to java.policy file. 1) is the java.policy file needed for local mode also ( apart from network mode ). I find that I am not able to access the database if I am not using the policy file. 2) I am using the following java.policy file: I want to avoid hardcoding the database path, Is there a way ? Can I also use the following java.policy file instead of one above.

You don't need it for either local or remote mode. Here are some other things that you don't need. Eugene.
