In server side , we need a client ID to identify who lock a record . So , we must supply a way to produce the client ID . How about your ways ? I use the client side machine name . Is it OK ?

Does the client machine necessarily have a name, or could it only have an IP? Are you excluding the possibility that multiple clients may be run on a Unix server or Windows Terminal Server? You could make this an assumption for your design -- the requirements are not explicit either way. It's rather less than ideal however. There are better ways. Searching through this forum will give you plenty of inspiration (do a search on "connection"). - Peter
