SCWCD vs SCJD : Better Career move?

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
Hey all,
I'm currently a SCJP and looking to move on towards another certification. I'm currently debating whether to take the SCWCD or the SCJD. Does anyone have any opinions on which will be most beneficial for a career move in the future, say thinking ahead 3 or so years. I guess a good question to start the discussion with is, which certification will be more viable to an employer within the next 2-5 years. To hear both sides I will post this in both the SCWCD and SCJD forums.
Thanks in Advance,
Jack

Yes.
Meaning it depends. I have both, and I found for me I think the SCJD was much better for me personally. Now as a Career move, I don't think the certification itself helps me in my career. But in terms of my career as far as knowledge, I have learned more from the SCJD.
But again I learned the SCWCD but reading and studying, I haven't used it in my programming life, so my remembering what I had learned is pretty much lost.
I am getting a little back into Servlets for PDA and Cell Phone applications.
If you are a web developer then SCWCD is better for you.
Overall you will probably end up getting both of them anyway, so either one is fine. the SCWCD will take you less money and time.

I agree with Mark, I believe that the SCJD is the more relevant certification for the majority of developers. This is not simply that it helps to develop RMI/Socket & Swing skills. You need to think about design and documentation issues also.
I think that you should also be aware that the SCJD certification is a much bigger certification to take on (if you want to get a good mark). There is the study element, the design, coding, testing & documenting to consider.
It is however, a far more enjoyable certification also.
The main element where I think that the SCJD has the edge is the fact that you are actually producing something. Employers and critics of certification cannot use the old arguement about the element of luck that they consider exists in multiple choice exams.
Having said all that, I also agree with mark that you will probably end up doing both anyway. Having both will negate any question about which one will further your career the most.
