is there a primary key or mention of one in your file?
because mine makes no mention, and I overlooked it until now because I expected it to be there, but it isn't, yet various methods require a record number, I've already started thinking about how to get around it but I'm not sure the idea of this assignment is to come up with work arounds, so please let me know what i'm missing.
thanks in advance

I think they're actually talking about a record number, like record number 1, record number 2, etc., and not a primary key per se.
