Hi All,
This is my first post on the developer forum. I see so many of the ranchers doing well in the SCJD/SCWCD exams, that inspires me to look forward for them.
I have 2 years of working experince in java. I dont have very extensive experince on server side nor in depth designing knowledge.
SCJD/ SCWCD exam are surely not as simple as SCJP(thats what i get). Should i wait for some more time have good work experience and then give these papers or is it able to study hard and make up.
Please guide me

Hi Reshma,
There is no time limit on doing the assignment. Therefore, if you can afford it, get the assignment now, and just see how you feel about the items in it.
I believe it is possible to get the assignment, and work on the areas you are comfortable with. As you complete each area, you may find that in the meantime your work has given you expertise in other areas which you can then complete. If not, you can then study those particular areas.
YMMV.
Regards, Andrew

also why wait for your employers until you learn something new, just read up on it, and ask some questions, before you know it you've passed.
btw, SCWCD is much easier than SCJP, i studied much less and scored slightly higher, and work experience in java in general will always be higher compared to web components, so that obviously wasn't a factor
good luck whatever you decide

Hi Reshma,
SCWCD is much easier compared to SCJP. So it is better to attempt SCWCD first rather than SCJD, later takes more time. If u are planning to take, SCWCD, attempt it first, so that u will have another certification on hand with less time.
For SCWCD, concentrate on servlet, and JSP specifications, and be thorough in API. There are lot of questions on method signatures. Manning's book is good for SCWCD.
Good luck

Hello,
the SCJD exam is very different from the SCJP exam.
SCJP is a mere multiple choice test, where you have to memorize lots of API ans language spec details. Some of these details are rather unneccessary to know at that level of detail, because in practice, you would rather look up at the API doc than memorize it.
SCJD requires you to do real development work: Design, programming, problem solving, documenting, testing. It lets you take as much time for it as you like, so there is no real pressure.
If you are a bit experienced in programming applications, just do it! If there is something in the assignment, that you haven't done yet, you still have the oportunity to learn it, when needed.
