Study Guides

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
while designing some of my app today, i realised my design looks very similar to the ones I saw in books, and not surprisingly because thats where I learnt some of the concepts from, especially having never built a 2 tier DB for instance, so the RHE guide was very influencial in this case.
should I be concerned and change this design amongst quite a few ideas I got from other books like Max's, surely these books are meant to be guides, but the problem is I cant come up with a better solution than some of the ones I've found in these books.
yet at the same time different books suggest the same solution, rightly so I might add, wouldn't finding a different and possibly less efficient way to do something just so its different be ridiculously stupid.
will Sun fail me for implementing similar solutions?
ah well, maybe I'm better off finding other ways to avoid failing

If your implementation is good and one of the best solutions, who cares if it is exactly like someone elses. That is called design/code reuse. That is also called a Design Pattern. Since the kinds of problems that we come up against have the best solution for them already documented, then we should by all means use them, because then it is easier for others to understand.
