When the client choses Network mode, he has to enter the server host and port. If the user enters a port other than the one on which Rmiregistry is running, I catch the connectException,IOException and display an error message to the user. When I try to enter a port, which is used by some other application, I get a ConnectIOException and SocketTimeoutException and the system hangs. How to solve this problem. Only for few ports the system hangs. (i.e for example if 1027 and 1030 ports are used by some other application, if I enter 1030 , it catches the connectException and displays a highlevel information to the user. If I enter 1027, it throws ConnectIOException and sockettimeoutexception and the system hangs). Please help.
