Hi All:
The URLyBird assignment has the "you must do": ... must be implemented ... database access systems provides ...a flexible search mechanism.
Ugh ... The findByCriteria does a prefix search; i.e., "FRED" matches "FREDDY", etc. But, it doesn't match currency ranges, date ranges, or something like room capacity > 2.
The GUI requirement is just for a search on HOTEL or CITY. So, is everyone sticking to the findByCriteria as a "flexible search", or doing something more complete? My opinion is that adding an escape to findByCriteria to enable advanced search (say a range search) violates the interface. Other opinions?
Search an ya'll shall find ...

I'd simply stick to what is asked in the requirements. Going beyond that is asking for trouble.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
