NX: [UrlyBird 1.3.1] gridbag layout too difficult?

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
Hi Guys,
has been sooo long since I had to write anything in Swing. Messing around with my configuration gui. Got fed up of creating a million and one JPanels to assist with layout, decided to just go the way of the gridbag (she is a cruel mistress ), is this technique out-dated, too complex, has anything come along since java 1.1 to help ease my layout pains?
thank you helpful people..
James

Nope, GridBagLayout is your best choice, in my mind.
Just make a graph on paper and draw your objects on there to determine which parts of the grid your objects need to be on. Also, you can create a GridBagConstraintsHelper class to help out.

OFFTOPIC:
James are you the guy who invented JORB? The extensible Java framework for object management?
Thanks

Why yes I am Eric. Has my fame and fortune spread to foreign lands. Check out SMORGESJORB, the swedish version.

You are a legend in Scunthorpe James, our local council runs JORB to manage the whole county's wages system.
I'm not worthy <bows>
