Hi Shilpa
I started recently as well. I bought the following book as soon as I downloaded the assignment...
Title: The Sun Certified Java Developer Exam with J2SE 1.4.
Authors: Mehran Habibi, Jeremy Patterson, and Terry Camerlengo.
Publishers: Apress
ISBN: 1-59059-030-9
It's a great book to help you get started. The threads on the ranch should help to fill in the blanks.
Cheers
Gareth.

Hi Shilpa
I saw another post where you asked how to access the database (I have added an answer to that post). You have picked a good place to start with: get the database access working first.
You will find that if you post a generic question here, you will probably get a generic answer - just something to help you start thinking about the issues. Then you can come back with a more specific question, and you will get a more specific answer (sometimes two or three conflicting answers depending on what the authors think are the best ways to handle a given situation ).
So start with getting your access to the database working. After you have got that working, you can think about what section you want to do next. And you can ask questions here for some help.
If you can get the book mentioned by Gareth, then that will probably help you a lot.
Regards, Andrew
