My Server prompts the user to use default DB or pick a DB, I can also change the default DB fom the Server GUI.
My networked client allows the user to also change the default server location, at start up and from the GUI.

Now if I change the DB location on the Server and try to restart the server from the GUI, I run in to major hassles.
1 Rebinding the registry to a new ConnectionFactory means the client must have temporary references to remote objects, using the Naming service every time and action is required, In case Server has restarted.
Is this overkill in your opinion ?
If the default DB(on server ) or default server(on client) is changed. Should this default only be used if the server/client are closed down and restarted again.

I think you should only have the server pick the db location when it starts up. You don't need a restart functionality in the server. Simply stopping it then rerunning it is fine.
