It had been about 10 days since I had last worked on my project
but throughout the course of working on my project it I tested my server
a million times. Now when I start up my server it starts fine.
But when I try to connect the GUI to the server (via a GUI "connect to server" prompt) I type in "localhost" and it gives me the exception:
Connection refused to host: localhost; nested exception is:
java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect
For the hell of it I typed in XXXXXX as the host and it recognized this as a bogus host and returned a java.net.UnknownHostException exception, which is good. But I am still lost on why it wont allow a connection on localhost.
Its been the same routine each time. Start my "server gui prompt" and enter the port and database location. Then start my "connect to server prompt" and enter the ip address or host name, in this case localhost.
But now its not working? Has anyone else heard of this or can give me
a clue? I REALLY REALLY REALLY need to figure this out because I am running
out of time.
I am sure localhost is available because in a old homework assignment I had to connect to localhost and I ran my homework assignment and it worked fine. I have also tried re-booting my maching about 2 million times.
as always, thanks!!!
