The Kathy and Bert book has an Exam Watch on p. 664 that says to be sure and include a carriage return at the end of your Main-Class.... line in the manifest file. The book says it won't work correctly without this newline.
Is this an environmental thing? My project was working fine without it in the Windows environment.
(I plan to follow the advice to be safe, but would like to have a better understanding of where/why it's needed.)

Hi Terry,
You might want to verify that you do not have a carriage return at the end of your Main-Class line - do you have a hex editor/viewer that you can use to check this?
I know that this is the most common cause for executable jar files not executing. But I have not heard of cases where the carriage return might not be needed.

Thanks Andrew. I don't have a hex editor handy right now to check the original version of my manifest. However, I definitely have one in there now and I will make sure that it stays there so that it will work.
