NX: Is Sun purposely giving out corrupt data files?

I'm wondering if anybody else has noticed this problem with the data file that they get with their assignment. (I have UrlyBird 1.2.2).
The spec says that "all text values, and all fields (which are text only), contain only 8 bit characters, null terminated if less than the maximum length for the field." However, apparently it's all a big fat lie! All my string values are padded with trailing spaces!
I plan on trimming everything that goes in or out of the database with some sharp comments in my choices doc, but am curious to know what everybody else is doing. Having to search for "Hotel Name " wouldn't exactly be user-friendly. I haven't seen any other postings ranting about this injustice, so maybe it's just me.

Nathaniel,
First, take a deep breath and maybe have a brew.
Having inconsistencies between the spec what's actually in the data file is part of the test. Sun wants to see how you deal with. You already have chosen a reasonable strategy, just go ahead and implement it and explain it in your choices.txt.

Oh, a planned inconsistency? I guess I can buy that. Sounds like I was on the right track all along. I'm just about done with the project and ready to send it in sometime in the next couple of days. Now that I've actually managed to implement the features, the automatic failure paranoia is creeping in. Looks like I'm gonna need a few of those brews.
