Do I have to use icon for in the GUI for those functions(search..book..etc)?
And do I have to use the JToolBar or just a Panel and add buttons?
Will it affect my mark? Thank you.

Hi again,
As far as gui components go you only need to implement what sun requires. So i would suggest that you don't use a toolbar or menubar since they are not required. Just implement the basic functionality b/c all the extra 'pretty' stuff will just take up your time and possibly create error in the future.
Regards,
Dave

You don't have to use icons or menu bars, but they're really pretty easy to set up, especially if you use Actions. While you're at it you can also set up Mnemonics for each function, facilitating keyboard navigation. I encourage you to give it a try. You can download Sun's Look and Feel Graphics Repository for some nice standard icons. For actions that you can't find a an icon for, don't worry too much, just iomit the icon for that action. But if there's an icon readily available, why not use it?

Hi,
I used icons, toobar and menubar. But don't do that. I also used look and feel configuration and I think that because these things are not asked by Sun, my mark was low (21/40).
My GUI is wonderful! I used JDesktopPane, JPanel, JInternalFrame, JToobar, JMenu, icons and so forth...
In resume: do what Sun ask for. Don't do anything else.
I got the MAX mark on the other items.
Be care.

Hi Dave & everyone else,

There has been at least one person who failed because of lack of menus / tool bars (amongst other things). I strongly recommend people read that thread - there are some very good comments in there.
As Jim said, setting up menus and toolbars is very easy to do. I would strongly recommend you use them.
Regards, Andrew
