how can i read the record flag from the db file

the flag is two byte.0 is validated,0x8000 is deleted.

As for your question - what class are you using to read your file? (that may make a difference on what suggestions are made). What primitive is the same size as two bytes?

This question as been asked and answered before. Try searching for 0x8000 using the search (restricted to the SCJD of course!)
