Command line option

Hi all,
It seems that all people in this forum know this, but for me is new.
When I use the command line:
java -jar <path_and_filename> [<mode>]
how can I read the option [<mode>] in my programm ? How I know which class I have to start?

I guess I must have a Start class which is given in the Manifest file from runme.jar. From this class I have to start the server and/or client.
I am rigth?
