NX: do we require this prefix for the posts now?

One of the header's for this forum says.....

If you're taking Sun's new exam, please prefix your message subjects with "NX:"

Since most of the assignments are only new assignments, I was wondering, maybe it is time to relax this rule.

Hello Vish,
my name is Nathnael, who is a brand NewBe! here. I think the question here is not if the Assignment we are doing is NEW. But the Developer like you and me have the title NX. Am i right Ranchers?
Regards
Nathnael.

Welcome to the Ranch Nathnael.
My understanding of the message is that "mark the message title as NX if you are working on the new assignments" As there are a number of diffrent assignments people are doing on this forum and it makes it a little easier to find out what people are working on.
You should also note that people may be doing an assignment that has the same name e.g Bodgitt and Scarper. But there are a number of diffrent verisons of this around.

Chris is right.
Most of the posts are related to the new exams. So a great majority of us are working on the new assignments.
To benefit the people who are working on the old assignment(s), we prefix our messages with NX: .I have also noticed that not all the ranchers working on the new assignment are so considerate here

Hi all,
I personally have never found the prefixes to be very useful. The NX distinguishes between the old projects (Fly By Night) and the new projects (URLyBird, and Bodgitt and Scarper). It is no help distinguishing between URLyBird and B&S which the vast majority of us are working on.
Also, many posts are applicable to any of the projects, that is, they are not specifically tailored to a specific project, so it seems legitimate to me to not have a prefix on those posts. For instance, why should a post asking about how to upload the assignment have a project designation? The upload process is the same for all assignments.
It seems to me it would be much more useful (for those posts that are specific to a particular project) to identify the project specifically rather than using NX. For example, UB for URLyBird, BS for Bodgitt and Scarper, and FBS for Fly By Night. It might even be useful to label particular versions BS 2.2.3 for version 2.2.3 of the Contractors assignment since the method signatures in the Sun interface are different for different versions of the same assignment.
The real problem, however, is that once a topic is started there will be all sorts of comments in the thread, some may refer to the project referenced in the title, but others will not. My guess as to why the policy doesn't seem to be faithfully followed is that it's not a very useful policy in practice.
