I've seen that most people who have passed the scjd used RMI instead socket. I tend to use socket with object serialization. And since no one I could find that had used socket, is there any trap/trick I should be stay out of?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Bing,
I regretted using Sockets / Object Serialisation. To me, I did a fantastic job in implementing multithreading myself and detailed monitoring of client's connection. In the end, my server portion got 20/40. Better stay with RMI which is simple.
This is subjective, to me the examiners see so many RMI similiar implementations and when they encounter a different approach of Socket, naturally they are "biased". Also hard to justify Sockets over RMI because in the spec, the idea given is performance is not an issue.
I could have easily gotten much better marks if I stay with RMI.
