hi all:
I am thinking to do the scjd cert, and I have a question. In the project spec. it says you can't use jdbc or any databases. How can we implement a database? I am assuming a text file. When I was in school, we used to read data from text files, which we specify the format. for example:
for a studend registration system the schema would be:
first name, last name, id
then we read line by line, parse the string seperated comma, and then save it in an object.
Is there any other techniques that I don't know of? or is there anything i need to read?
thanks

The exam gives you the text file, and the field sizes. It is all in the directions.

You have it exactly right, the file is a flat file that you read line by line and create your records. Well not really line by line but say for example 1000 bytes per record. Each record then has some fields like id, name and so on. Give this cert a shot, it is not that difficult really.
See ya
